Two Puro.earth-certified carbon credits for every ton of biochar

Proprietary continuous-feed pyrolysis

The Problem We Solve

Soil Amendments Should Do More
Traditional soil inputs often serve a single purpose. Perlite, for example, helps with drainage, but it provides no nutrient benefits. Black Bear Biochar™ is different: it boasts optimal physical structure and exceptionally high carbon content. This improves soil structure, enhances water retention, and supports microbial life, delivering a game-changing boost to the soil’s health and productivity.

The Organic Alternative With Proven Impact
Made from residual wood through a proprietary continuous pyrolysis process, Black Bear Biochar™ is organic, OMRI-listed, and traps atmospheric CO2 — supporting plant growth while giving back to the earth.

Local Supply Chain
Unlike traditional amendments that rely on mining, processing, and long-distance shipping, Black Bear Biochar™ is made locally from wood residuals. By co-locating with lumber operations, we turn waste into a valuable soil product—cutting transportation costs, lowering emissions, and creating a circular, sustainable solution for growers.

Our Solutions
How it Started
After serving in the military for 16 years, founder Phil Marsh returned to his family farm in McBride, BC—and saw a problem: piles of unused wood waste everywhere. With aptitude for science and military execution, he set out on a mission to turn that waste into something meaningful. The result? BC Biocarbon’s proprietary pyrolysis process, and the creation of Black Bear Biochar™ —a superior soil amendment. Today BC Biocarbon is a company that proudly converts wood residuals into high-impact commercial solutions for soil and climate.
